The predicted line-up for the Indonesia national football team against Oman at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in the FIFA Matchday friendly on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 8:00 PM WIB.

This encounter between Indonesia and Oman serves as an important preparation ahead of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals.

Although both teams failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Indonesia and Oman have already secured their places in the next edition of the AFC Asian Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia in January 2027.

Match Analysis

Indonesia’s journey in the previous World Cup qualifiers ended at the bottom of a three-team group. Despite reaching the fourth round being a commendable feat, the Garuda squad failed to earn any points against Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

John Herdman was appointed as head coach in October 2025 following the dismissal of Patrick Kluivert. Under Herdman’s management, Indonesia has played two friendly matches with mixed results: a dominant 4-0 win over St. Kitts and Nevis on March 27, followed by a 1-0 loss to Bulgaria on March 30.

Overall, Indonesia has only managed to win four of their last 13 matches, losing seven of them. The forward line’s inability to score in six of those games remains a major concern for Herdman to address.

Moreover, home performance has also been inconsistent, with two defeats, one draw, and just one win in their last four home fixtures, despite previously recording three consecutive home victories.

On the other hand, Oman only reached the second round of World Cup qualification, finishing bottom of their group with one point after competing against Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The Al-Ahmar squad last played in December during the FIFA Arab Cup, where they exited at the group stage, finishing third and two points behind Saudi Arabia.

From three matches in that tournament, Oman collected four points, entering this Friday’s match with three wins from their last nine games. This fixture will also mark the debut of new coach Tarik Sektioui, appointed in March 2026. He is expected to rejuvenate the team’s attacking performance, which has failed to score in five of their last nine games.

Historically, Oman and Indonesia have met four times, with Oman winning three of those encounters. A victory in Jakarta would mark their fourth triumph in five head-to-head meetings.

Team News

Indonesia is expected to field a forward trio of Ole Romeny, Beckham Putra, and Ragnar Oratmangoen. The three attackers are each chasing their fifth, seventh, and third international goals, respectively.

In midfield, the double pivot of Calvin Verdonk and Joey Pelupessy is likely to start again after performing together in the previous match. Should Herdman continue with a three-defender formation, the backline is expected to feature Justin Hubner, Rizki Ridho, and Elkan Baggott, with Emil Audero guarding the goal.

For Oman, central defenders Musab Al Shaqsi and Mohsin Al Ghassani will rely on midfield protection led by Sultan Al Marzouq and Harib Al Saadi. Up front, Nasser Al Rawahi is set to play as the lone striker, supported by Jameel Al Yahmadi, Abdullah Fawaz, and Zahir Al Aghbari.

Predicted Starting Line-up

Indonesia:

Audero; Hubner, Ridho, Baggott; Diks, Verdonk, Pelupessy, Tjoe-A-On; Beckham, Romeny, Oratmangoen

Oman:

Al Mukhaini; Al Khamisi, Al Shaqsi, Al Ghassani, Al Ghatrifi; Al Saadi, Al Marzouq; Al Yahmadi, Fawaz, Al Aghbari; Al Rawahi

Predicted Score:

Indonesia 1-1 Oman

It is difficult to predict Oman’s playing scheme since this will be Tarik Sektioui’s first match in charge. This uncertainty could work to the visitors’ advantage. Considering Indonesia’s recent struggles at home, a draw appears to be a realistic outcome for both teams.
