Portugal’s national football team is set to host Chile at the Estádio Nacional for an international friendly tonight.

The Portugal vs Chile match will kick off at 00:45 WIB on Sunday (7 June 2026) early morning.

The home side, preparing for the upcoming World Cup, continues their final preparations for the tournament which begins next week.

While the European side is gearing up for their seventh consecutive appearance on the global stage later this month, the South American visitors have suffered a major decline in recent years, missing out on the World Cup for the third consecutive time.

Portugal secured their ticket to the United States in convincing fashion last November, thrashing Armenia 9-1 at the Estádio do Dragão to top their World Cup qualifying group.

The result marked the Seleção das Quinas’ second-biggest victory in history, followed by a goalless draw against Mexico and a 2-0 win over the United States.

Portugal will enter the global stage later this month as one of the favourites to lift the prestigious trophy, led by star forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who will make his record sixth World Cup appearance.

However, their immediate focus remains on building rhythm and maintaining fitness in this weekend’s clash and next week’s encounter with Nigeria before beginning their World Cup campaign against DR Congo.

Chile endured a disastrous qualifying campaign, winning just two of 18 matches and finishing bottom of the CONMEBOL standings.

La Roja participated in the FIFA Series in New Zealand during the last international break.

After defeating a 10-man Cape Verde side in their group opener, Chile themselves went down to 10 men in the following match and suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to New Zealand.

Saturday’s game will be the fifth meeting between the two nations.

Their last encounter came in the 2017 Confederations Cup, where Chile won the semi-final via a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in normal time.

Portugal’s 2-0 victory over Uruguay during the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup remains their most recent meeting with a South American side.

Portugal currently sits fifth in the latest FIFA World Rankings, while Chile occupies 54th place.
