The Romania national football team will host Wales in an international friendly match tonight.

The Romania vs Wales game is set to kick off at 00:45 WIB on Sunday morning, June 7, 2026.

Ranked 56th in the world, the Tricolors are still waiting for their first FIFA World Cup appearance since 1998 after failing to qualify, losing to Turkey in the play-off round.

Ferdi Kadioglu scored the only goal for the Crescent-Stars in the 53rd minute, as Romania were unable to find an equaliser.

Since that setback, the Balkan side have played two friendly matches but have yet to secure a win.

They suffered a 2-0 defeat to Slovakia in March, followed by a 1-1 draw against Georgia last week. Louis Munteanu levelled the score for Romania just nine minutes after Giorgi Kvilitaia had put the Crusaders ahead in their most recent match.

With the 2026–27 UEFA Nations League fixtures approaching for both nations, Romania and Wales are expected to field strong line-ups for this encounter.

The Welsh side also endured disappointment in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification play-offs, losing 4-2 on penalties to Bosnia and Herzegovina after the match ended 1-1 in regular time.

Daniel James gave Wales the lead in the 56th minute and they looked set for victory until Bosnia equalised just four minutes before full-time.

In the penalty shootout, Wales initially took advantage when Ermedin Demirovic missed Bosnia’s first penalty.

However, Brennan Johnson and Neco Williams both failed to convert their spot-kicks in succession, allowing Kerim Alajbegovic to send the Golden Lillies into the play-off final with a decisive penalty.

Head-to-Head and Statistics: Romania vs Wales

The two nations have met only five times before, with Romania winning three and Wales defeating them just once—a convincing 5-0 victory in a friendly back in October 1983.

Their most recent meeting took place in November 1993 during a FIFA World Cup qualification match, which ended in a 2-1 away win for Romania.

All three of Wales’ matches in 2026 have ended in 1-1 draws—against Bosnia, Northern Ireland, and Ghana—while Romania have yet to record a win this year, losing twice and drawing once.

Romania vs Wales Prediction

With both teams struggling for form, this fixture could go in either direction.

However, considering Romania’s superior head-to-head record against Wales, the hosts might have the edge this time.

Score Prediction: Romania 1-0 Wales
