A Foodpanda delivery rider in Singapore returned to cover up markings left on a wall outside a customer’s apartment after the incident drew complaints online.

The apartment’s resident posted footage from her security camera on Facebook that show a helmeted delivery rider lingering near the wall, AsiaOne reported.

Moments later, the rider was seen taking a photo of the wall, placing the food on a rack and leaving.

“There is unit number right on my gate and the rider wrote on my wall to take photo that they delivered the food,” the video was captioned.

The resident later told local outlet Stomp she was “shocked and angry” by the rider’s actions and was unsure if they amounted to “vandalism”. She added that the rider returned at around 11 a.m. the following day to paint over the writing.

The resident said she had reported the matter to Foodpanda but decided not to pursue it further.

Foodpanda said it had investigated the incident. “Based on our review, the delivery partner was attempting to ensure the delivery could be properly verified as part of the proof-of-delivery process. However, the approach taken was inappropriate and did not meet the standards we expect of our delivery partners,” a spokesperson said.

The company said the rider expressed remorse and returned to the customer’s home to rectify the situation and clean the wall. It added that “we have reached out directly to the customer to address the matter and have offered compensation”.
