The United States Men's National Team concluded their 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations with a 2-1 loss to Germany at Soldier Field on Saturday.
The four-time World Cup winners made an immediate impact, taking the lead in just the second minute through a well-placed header from Kai Havertz following a set-piece delivery.
Despite the early blow, the Americans responded brilliantly. Antonee Robinson produced a remarkable equaliser, unleashing a thunderous volley from outside the penalty area that struck the crossbar before finding the back of the net.
With momentum shifting towards the hosts, Germany regained control midway through the second half. Leroy Sané netted the decisive goal in the 57th minute, slotting past New York City FC goalkeeper Matt Freese into the bottom left corner.
Next up for the USMNT is their World Cup campaign, beginning with a Group D clash against Paraguay in Los Angeles on Friday night.
