Bengaluru Vennela Death Case: Sometimes the death of a child is not just a family tragedy, but leaves questions that take months to find answers to. The case of death of six-year-old girl Vennela in Bengaluru is also similar. Initially it was considered an unusual death, but now the investigation has taken a turn that has turned the entire case into a murder investigation.
In this incident that happened about two months ago, the police have now registered a case of murder against the girl's mother and her alleged accomplice. This action has been taken on the basis of the complaint of the girl's father and new facts revealed during the investigation.
This matter is from Kadugodi area of Bengaluru. On March 25, six-year-old Vennela was found dead in a rented villa she lived in with her family. Initially, the police considered it an unnatural death and started investigation. At that time it was feared that the girl's health might have deteriorated due to some food related problem. However, with time many such questions came to light which changed the course of the investigation.
The girl's father Praveen Basappa, in his complaint to the police, alleged that his daughter's death was not normal. He said he suspected murder after studying the postmortem report and other circumstances. After this he demanded the police to thoroughly investigate the matter again. Based on the complaint, the police arrested the girl's mother, advocate P. Priyanka, and her alleged accomplice Mohan G. A case of murder was registered against Mahalingappa.
During the investigation, the police arrested Mohan Mahalingappa. Seven days' police custody has also been obtained from the court so that he can be interrogated in detail. At the same time, the girl's mother Priyanka is said to be absconding at present. Police teams are busy searching for them.
According to the father, he and Priyanka were married for 17 years and had two daughters. The complaint alleges that Priyanka met her old college friend Mohan after coming to Bengaluru in the year 2025 in connection with a legal case. After this, the closeness between the two increased and marital relations became tense. It is reported that the elder daughter started living with the father, while the younger daughter Vennela was living with the mother.
According to the statements revealed in the investigation, Priyanka had told the family that she had fed biryani and ice cream to the girl. After this the girl reportedly slept in the car. It was claimed that he was allowed to sleep in the car as the air conditioner was on and was later brought home and made to sleep on the bed. When the girl did not wake up the next morning, she was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The cause of death could not be clarified in the initial investigation. The postmortem report also did not reach any definite conclusion. However, the police found some contradictions in the statements related to the incident. For this reason the viscera samples were sent for forensic examination. Investigating officers say that the final forensic report is yet to come and on the basis of that, more clarity will be available regarding the actual cause of death.
Father Praveen Basappa claimed that he showed the postmortem report to his sister, who is a pediatrician in the United Kingdom. According to him, after looking at the report and circumstances, his sister also described the death as suspicious and pointed out the possible criminal aspect. After this he lodged a detailed complaint with the police.
