Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane continues to prove himself as one of Europe’s most lethal strikers.
He currently stands as England’s highest-ever goalscorer with 79 goals and is expected to play a pivotal role in their campaign to capture the World Cup title this summer.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has expressed his belief that Kane will retire having shattered multiple scoring records.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Neville said: “You never imagined witnessing another player as prolific as Alan Shearer, but Harry Kane certainly is. I believe if he returns to the Premier League, he will surpass Shearer’s record.”
He added: “I would be astonished if he doesn’t continue playing until at least 38, determined to claim that record. He is destined to become both England’s and the Premier League’s greatest-ever goalscorer.”
Kane currently ranks second in the Premier League’s all-time scoring list with 213 goals, trailing Shearer by 47.
At 32, Kane has one year remaining on his contract with Bayern Munich. It remains uncertain whether he would consider moving back to England to chase down Shearer’s milestone.
His age and wage demands could make such a transfer challenging, though his remarkable consistency means there would likely be no shortage of interested clubs.
For now, Kane’s full attention is on leading England’s charge at this summer’s World Cup.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker heads into the tournament in outstanding form, having netted 10 goals in his past 10 matches.
He also boasts an impressive World Cup record, scoring eight goals in 11 appearances and claiming the Golden Boot at the 2018 edition.
However, for England to triumph, Kane will need strong support from his teammates throughout the tournament.
