1) No hand on light switch: If you smell gas, don’t forget to turn on the light to dispel the darkness. Or switch off the exhaust fan to stop the hissing noise. The slightest spark from a switch can burn down an entire house in an instant.

2) Put away deslai-lighters: Don’t forget to light matches, lighters or candles to find where the leak is coming from. A gas cylinder can explode like a bomb with the slightest spark.

3) Keep mobile phones away: Don’t try using the phone’s flashlight. Don’t risk calling the fire service or gas office at this time. Even a small spark of a phone vibration or electronic wave can cause a big explosion.

4) Be careful about wearing shoes: Don’t be in a hurry to walk in the kitchen with your shoes on. Shoes rubbing against the floor can create static electricity or sparks, which can be a source of fire.

5) Main switch not off: Many people think that turning off the main switch will reduce the danger. But don’t make this mistake. The large spark that occurs when the mains is switched off can cause a fire.

But what to do?

Cover your nose and mouth first without panicking. Open all the windows and doors of the room one by one, so that the gas can escape. Close the cylinder regulator immediately. If the smell is too strong, do not stay indoors for a moment longer. Quickly get everyone out into the open.
