India has defeated Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in the Mullanpur Test. This is Team India’s biggest win by innings in Test cricket. After the Indian team declared its first innings on the score of 564 runs, Afghanistan was bowled out for 152 runs. India achieved a huge lead of 412 runs. Shubhman Gill forced the Afghan team to follow on on Monday (June 8) morning. The Afghan team, which came to play follow-on, could last only 35.5 overs and was reduced to 112 runs.
For Afghanistan, only Sediqullah Atal was able to face the Indian bowlers in the second innings. He scored 42 runs in 80 balls. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 24, while Rahmat Shah scored 13 runs. Apart from this, no Afghan batsman could reach double digits. Sharafuddin Ashraf could not come to bat in the second innings due to injury. For India, Washington Sundar took 4 wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets.
The Afghanistan team had set out to advance its first innings by 113 runs, in which it could only add 39 runs. Manav Suthar, who was making his Test debut, tied the knot by taking 6 wickets. After being forced to follow on, Afghanistan had scored 18 runs without any loss in 4 overs till lunch. After this, he scored 80 runs after losing 5 wickets in the next session. His score till tea-break was 98/5. It seemed that she would play the last session of the day and drag the match till the fourth day but after the T-break she lost 4 wickets in 6.5 overs. Kuldeep Yadav finished his innings by taking 2 wickets in 2 balls. Manav Suthar, who took 6 wickets in the first innings, achieved 1 success in the second innings.
India, after winning the toss and batting first, scored 564 runs at the loss of 8 wickets with the help of centuries from captain Shubman Gill (126) and KL Rahul (100). Now both the teams will face each other in a 3-match ODI series from June 13.
