Alphonso Davies’s potential departure from FC Bayern Munich appears to be edging closer with every passing week.
As reported by Sport Bild, clubs from Saudi Arabia have reached out to the German champions and their Canadian star regarding a possible transfer during the upcoming summer window.
It is believed that discussions have already occurred at Säbener Straße between Bayern officials, with the talks allegedly centred around the “terms of a possible transfer”. However, no definitive agreement has yet been finalised.
Despite agreeing to an early contract extension in 2025 that ties him to the Bavarian club until 2030, Davies’s future at Bayern has once again become a topic of internal debate. His considerable annual salary, estimated at €15 million, combined with persistent injury troubles, has prompted the club’s management to reconsider his long-term role.
Davies’s status at FC Bayern Munich is no longer undisputed.
Following a cruciate ligament tear in spring 2025, the Canadian international has endured a difficult spell with his fitness. Recurring muscle issues have repeatedly sidelined him, and his latest thigh injury is expected to rule him out of representing Canada at the upcoming World Cup.
In light of these developments, new head coach Vincent Kompany appears to have altered his view. Once one of Davies’s strongest advocates and firmly against bringing in competition for the left-back role, Kompany now reportedly considers signing a new player for that position as a key priority.
Should an appropriate offer arrive, Bayern are now said to be open to negotiations. Given the immense financial resources available to several Saudi Arabian clubs, a deal could theoretically be concluded swiftly.
Nonetheless, sources suggest that Davies himself is unlikely to accept a move to the Saudi Pro League. At just 25, the Canadian defender remains in his prime and is still widely regarded as one of the finest full-backs in world football.
Meanwhile, FC Bayern Munich are believed to have identified Nathaniel Brown as a potential successor.
If Davies does depart, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown is viewed as a ready-made replacement. Reports indicate that Bayern have already reached personal terms with the German international, although negotiations between FCB and SGE are still in progress.
Frankfurt are said to be demanding around €60 million for Brown, while Bayern are aiming to secure the deal for a slightly lower figure. The 22-year-old defender, however, has distanced himself from the transfer speculation while focusing on his duties with the German national team at the World Cup. “It doesn’t bother me,” he remarked. “My concentration is fully on the national side, and I’m excited to take part in the World Cup.”
According to Sport Bild, Brown views a move to Kompany’s Bayern as his preferred destination and is not considering other interested clubs such as Real Madrid, Arsenal, or Manchester City this summer. The report further notes that Kompany has admired the player for several years and even attempted to sign him during his tenure as Burnley manager.
Bayern reportedly initiated contact with Brown’s representatives even before the winter break. His performance during Frankfurt’s 0-3 defeat to Munich in October 2025 reportedly left a strong impression on Bayern’s management. On that afternoon, Brown held his own against Michael Olise and successfully contained the dynamic winger, much as he did when neutralising Lamine Yamal in Frankfurt’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.
