Empowering Women in Uttar Pradesh
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is implementing a groundbreaking welfare scheme aimed at ensuring the safety, dignity, and self-reliance of women. This initiative specifically targets the most vulnerable and marginalized women in society, including those affected by triple talaq, survivors of acid attacks, and abandoned women, to reintegrate them into the mainstream.
As part of this sensitive initiative, eligible women will not only receive secure housing but also comprehensive healthcare and treatment support from the government.
According to official plans, these women will be included in major housing schemes such as the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana' and the 'Chief Minister Awas Yojana'. Additionally, they will benefit from significant health insurance programs like 'Ayushman Bharat' and the 'Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana'.
Following the Chief Minister's directives, efforts are underway to expedite this initiative, with the Women and Child Development Department actively gathering data on potential beneficiaries. The government has initiated a large-scale data collection and verification process to identify eligible women across the state.
Officials have indicated that priority will be given to three main categories of women: those affected by triple talaq, survivors of acid attacks, and abandoned women. The goal is to ensure that these groups receive systematic access to housing, healthcare, and comprehensive social security.
Authorities emphasized that this scheme extends beyond mere financial assistance; it aims to provide stable housing and extensive healthcare coverage to enable beneficiaries to lead dignified and independent lives.
The government is collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate identification of eligible individuals, striving to ensure that no needy woman is left out of this initiative.
Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to maintain quality, standards, and timelines for ongoing and upcoming development projects in the state. During a review of the Public Works Department's action plan for 2026-27, he held discussions with district magistrates, ministers, and public representatives from various parts of Uttar Pradesh.
He stressed that all development proposals should be carefully crafted according to local needs.
The Chief Minister directed district officials to collaborate with elected representatives to finalize development plans on a priority basis. He also requested that district-wise proposals be submitted within a week so that the government can approve the action plan by the first week of June. He clarified that any delays or issues caused by departmental officials or contractors should not be attributed to public representatives, emphasizing that it is the responsibility of the relevant departments to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
