Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited has initiated the application process for apprentice positions. Candidates can apply online for these roles until July 1, 2026.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) has released the official notification for the 2026 apprentice recruitment drive. A total of 495 apprentice positions will be filled through this campaign. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online from June 11, 2026, to July 1, 2026.
The various trades for recruitment have been divided into three distinct groups to accommodate candidates with different educational qualifications. Candidates who have passed the 10th standard can apply for Group A. This group includes trades such as Draftsman (Mechanical), Electrician, Fitter, Pipe Fitter, and Structural Fitter. Candidates applying for these posts must be between 15 and 19 years of age as of October 1, 2026.
Group B is intended for candidates who have completed ITI (Industrial Training Institute) training in the relevant trade. This group includes trades such as Electrician, Draftsman, Electronic Mechanic, Painter, Welder, COPA, Carpenter, and other technical trades. The age limit for this group is 16 to 21 years.
Meanwhile, candidates who have passed the 8th standard can apply for Group C. This group includes the trades of Rigger and Welder (Gas & Electric). Candidates for these posts must be between 14 and 18 years of age.
Age relaxation for reserved categories
In accordance with government regulations, candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories will be granted a 5-year relaxation in the maximum age limit. Candidates from other reserved categories will also receive age relaxation benefits as per the rules.
Selection to be Conducted in Three Stages
The selection process for the MDL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 will be carried out in three stages. First, candidates must appear for a Computer-Based Test (CBT). Candidates who qualify in the exam will be called for the next stage.
In the second stage, document verification will be conducted, and trades will be allotted based on the candidates' qualifications and merit. Subsequently, a medical examination will be held as the final stage. Candidates who pass the medical test will be finally selected.
What is the Application Fee?
The application fee for the recruitment is determined based on the category. Candidates belonging to the General, OBC, SEBC, EWS, and AFC categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹100.
Conversely, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories are exempt from paying any application fee; the application process is entirely free for these categories.
How to Apply
Candidates should first visit the official MDL website. New candidates must register and log in to the portal using the login ID and password received. Carefully fill in all the details requested in the application form and upload the necessary documents. If applicable, pay the fee online. Finally, after submitting the application form, keep a printout for your records.
