Meet the Haim sisters

HAIM is a Grammy-nominated sibling band made up of a sibling trio, including sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim. The eldest sister,   40, is the band's bassist, whose energetic stage presence plays a vital role in giving the band its vibrant character. The middle sister, Danielle, is 37 as of June 2026, and she is the lead vocalist/guitarist of the band. While she is considered the musical anchor of the group, the band remains incomplete with the third sister, Alana. The 34-year-old is an all-in-all guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist of the band.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, the Haim sisters hail from a musical household. Their father, Mordechai 'Moti' Haim, is a former professional soccer player, drummer, musician, and actor. Their mother, Donna Rose Haim, is a renowned folk singer from Philadelphia. Not only is the whole Haim family musical, but they even performed together in their early family band, Rockinhaim.

Forming the all-female sibling band, HAIM

Beginning as a family band with Moti and Donna, the Haim sisters eventually formed their own trio and officially launched HAIM in 2007. The band initially pursued side gigs while touring with the band and completing their studies, but it wasn't until rapper  signed them to his agency Roc Nation that they truly came into the spotlight.

After joining Roc Nation, the sisters debuted their indie rock album, Days Are Gone, in 2013, and it was a huge success. With singles like The Wire and Falling, the debut album was an overnight sensation. The band's blend of indie rock with pop and classic soft-rock catapulted the album's fame to the #1 hit in the UK, even landing a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2013.

Since then, HAIM has become one of the most successful all-female bands of their generation. In 2021, the Haim sisters made history at the Grammy Awards. Their album Women in Music Pt. III became the first record by an all-female rock band to receive a nomination for Album of the Year. Over the years, the trio has collaborated with some of the biggest pop icons, including Taylor Swift, Lorde, Elton John, Foo Fighters, Lizzo, and Stevie Nicks.

Their recent appearance at the NBA Games was certainly not the first time that the Haim siblings were seen with Taylor Swift. The sibling trio is a central part of the pop sensation's inner circles, sharing a close bond with the Ophelia singer for over a decade. Before their recent appearance, the sisters had famously toured with Swift during her 1989 era, and later joined her on select dates of the blockbuster Eras Tour earlier this year.

More than just a musical trio

Beyond music, the Haim sisters have built impressive individual careers in entertainment. In 2021, Alana Haim made her big-screen debut with Paul Thomas Anderson's Oscar-nominated film Licorice Pizza. Even on the big screen, the Haim family could not be separated. Alana's two sisters and their parents became her on-screen family in the film. So, in a way, it was a big-screen debut for the whole party.

Coming to the other two sisters, Danielle has made a brilliant career for herself, working extensively as a songwriter and producer, while Este is known for her outspoken personality, social media presence, and advocacy for Type 1 diabetes awareness, being a person with that condition herself.
