For this reason, small and big earthquakes are recorded here from time to time. In history too, Assam has faced many major earthquakes. The powerful earthquake that occurred in Assam in the year 1897 is counted among the biggest earthquakes in the country. That earthquake affected a large area. Even today, due to geological activities, incidents of vibration keep happening in this area.
