It appears that WhatsApp is developing a scheduled messaging feature for iPhone users, allowing them to send messages at a chosen date and time rather than immediately. This upcoming feature is expected to work in both personal and group chats. According to reports, users will be able to draft a message, set a delivery time, and even delete it before it is sent. The feature is currently in the development phase and is not yet available to beta testers.

According to a post by feature tracker WABetaInfo, users will be able to access this scheduling tool by long-pressing the 'send' button within a chat. After selecting the delivery time, WhatsApp will queue the message, and it will be sent automatically at the scheduled time. The feature is in its early stages and has not yet reached the TestFlight beta release. While WhatsApp has not announced a launch timeline, reports suggest it will be rolled out to beta testers before a general release.

The report also mentions that WhatsApp is providing tools for users to manage these scheduled messages. A dedicated section is expected within the app to display all pending messages awaiting delivery. Additionally, an indicator might appear in chats where messages have been scheduled. Users will also be able to delete these scheduled messages before delivery without the recipient knowing.

This feature will support both group chats and one-on-one chats. However, scheduled messages will only be delivered to members who were already part of the group at the time the message was scheduled. People who join the group later will not receive the previously scheduled messages.

The company is also testing the limits regarding how far in advance a message can be scheduled. According to current developments, users will be able to select a time ranging from a minimum of 10 minutes after composing the message to a maximum of two weeks in the future.

Reports indicate that earlier versions of this feature focused solely on personal chats; however, recent developments suggest that WhatsApp is now extending its scope to group chats and enhancing the overall user experience.

This feature could assist users in scheduling reminders, birthday wishes, announcements, and time-sensitive messages. It could also prove highly useful for communicating with people across different time zones. While WhatsApp already offers call scheduling through its 'Events' feature, it has not yet provided a built-in option for scheduling text messages.
