First of all, put milk in a heavy bottomed vessel and boil it on medium flame. Keep stirring the milk continuously and cook it for 15 to 20 minutes until it thickens a little.
Peel and grate the apple. Now heat ghee in a pan and lightly fry the grated apple in it for 3 to 4 minutes. This will remove the rawness of the apple and the taste will also improve.
Add sugar, cardamom powder and saffron in condensed milk and mix well. This will give wonderful aroma and taste to the kheer.
After a few minutes of turning off the gas, add the roasted apple to the milk and mix well. Keep in mind that do not put apples in boiling milk, as it may curdle the milk.
Garnish with almonds and pistachios on top. Kheer can be served both hot or cold.
