BANJARMASINPOST.CO.ID - Here is the broadcast time and football schedule for the Argentina vs Algeria match in the 2026 World Cup, live on TVRI in the morning.

The national teams of Argentina and Algeria will face off on Wednesday, June 17, at 08:00 WIB or 09:00 WITA.

The Group I match of the 2026 World Cup will take place at Kansas City Stadium, United States.

This match can also be watched via live streaming on Folaplay and MAXStream.

In addition, fans can also enjoy the match through community watch parties (nobar).

In the South Kalimantan region, several locations are hosting viewing events, including the courtyard of TVRI Kalsel.

Excitement also filled the World Cup 2026 public viewing organized by the Tabalong Police Department (Polres Tabalong) of the South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kalsel) along with local community organizations.

The event was held in the Tabalong Police Hall, involving groups such as Laung Kuning Tabalong Organization, the Tabalong Regency Youth Committee (KNPI), the RX-King Motorcycle Community of Tabalong, and Tabalong Police personnel.

Also present were Deputy Police Chief Kompol Hasanuddin, department heads, unit chiefs, and representatives from the Tabalong Youth and Sports Office.

During the viewing, attendees watched together the Group F World Cup 2026 match between Sweden and Tunisia.

The entertaining match ended with Sweden claiming a 5-1 victory.

Tabalong Police Chief AKBP Wahyu Ismoyo J, through Police Public Relations Officer Iptu Heri Siswoyo, stated that this initiative aims to strengthen communication and partnerships with all community sectors.

"This public viewing is not only a form of entertainment and togetherness in following a global sporting event but also an opportunity to reinforce synergy between the police and the community," he said.

He added that through such events, the spirit of cooperation in maintaining public security and order can be further enhanced.

"We hope that through activities like this, a harmonious relationship and collaboration in maintaining a safe and conducive environment in Tabalong Regency will continue to grow," he added.

Match Preview: Argentina vs Algeria

Defending champions Argentina will begin their 2026 World Cup campaign in Group J against Algeria in Kansas City on Tuesday.

La Albiceleste aim to become only the third nation to win back-to-back World Cup titles, while the Fennec Foxes are seeking to progress beyond the group stage.

Only Italy and Brazil have successfully defended the World Cup title, but Argentina will look to join this elite club by the end of July as they defend their global crown in North America.

This year marks their 14th consecutive appearance, having topped the CONMEBOL qualification standings for the first time since 2014.

A commanding 4-1 victory over Brazil in Buenos Aires was among the highlights, as Lionel Scaloni’s experienced squad finished comfortably atop the 10-nation table.

Gathering 38 points from 18 matches secured their dominance, with inspirational captain Lionel Messi claiming the Golden Boot after scoring eight goals during the campaign.

Subsequent friendlies against lower-ranked sides such as Mauritania, Iceland, and Puerto Rico resulted in seven consecutive wins, with 21 goals scored and only one conceded.

Now, the opening Group J fixture awaits, and the last time Argentina failed to score in their World Cup opener was in 1990, when they lost 1-0 to Cameroon.

Since then, the South American giants have won all six subsequent encounters against African opposition – an encouraging sign ahead of facing Algeria.

However, after their unexpected loss to Saudi Arabia at the start of Qatar 2022 before eventually lifting the trophy, Scaloni’s side know better than to underestimate any opponent.

The two nations have met only once before – a friendly in June 2007, which Argentina won 4-3 at Camp Nou, with Messi scoring his first two international goals.

This time, both sides will compete alongside Austria and Jordan for the top two spots in Group J, which guarantee a place in the World Cup knockout rounds.

Ranked 28th by FIFA, Algeria will make their fifth World Cup appearance, their first since 2014 when they advanced beyond the group stage for the only time in their history.

Looking to improve their modest record of three wins and just one clean sheet from 13 World Cup matches, the Fennec Foxes qualified impressively for North America.

They topped Group G in CAF qualification, suffering only one defeat and sealing their spot with a game to spare – with only two teams scoring more goals across the continent.

Although their quarter-final exit at this year’s AFCON suggested room for growth, coach Vladimir Petkovic has since witnessed encouraging performances from his squad.

Following two March friendlies – a 7-0 demolition of Guatemala and a goalless draw with Uruguay – Algeria went on to defeat the Netherlands and Bolivia earlier this month, conceding just twice in their last six matches.

Team News

As always, Argentina will be led by Lionel Messi, who is set to make his 200th international appearance and his 27th in the World Cup.

The Inter Miami star already holds the record and, after recovering from a hamstring injury, will become the first player to take part in six different World Cup editions.

Qatar 2022 penalty hero and undisputed first-choice goalkeeper Emi Martinez has been declared fit after fracturing a finger before the Europa League final.

Midfielder Leandro Paredes and versatile player Nico Gonzalez are both expected to recover from muscle issues, but Lyon left-back Nicolas Tagliafico is ruled out with a calf injury sustained against Honduras. Facundo Medina or Valentin Barco may fill in.

Meanwhile, Algeria will also be missing their left-back, with Ramy Bensebaini still recovering from an ankle injury. Samir Chergui and Zineddine Belaid are vying to replace him in the starting eleven.

Marseille striker Amine Gouiri returns to the squad after missing AFCON with a shoulder injury, typically supported by Wolfsburg’s Mohammed Amoura.

In addition to providing four assists, Amoura was the top scorer in CAF qualification with 10 goals from as many matches. Veteran winger Riyad Mahrez, though less prolific recently, will continue to captain the side.

Probable Argentina Starting XI:

E. Martinez; Molina, Otamendi, Li. Martinez, Medina; De Paul, Fernandez, Mac Allister, Almada; Messi, La. Martinez

Probable Algeria Starting XI:

Zidan; Belghali, Mandi, Chergui, Ait-Nouri; Bentaleb, Boudaoui; Mahrez, Maza, Amoura; Gouiri
