Manchester United have officially confirmed that they will be the focus of an Amazon Prime ‘All or Nothing’ documentary series covering the 2026-27 season, after agreeing to a record-breaking access fee. The documentary will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the club during a defining phase under Michael Carrick’s management and the INEOS sporting structure.
Record-breaking deal brings United to Prime Video
The Premier League giants have sealed a landmark collaboration with Amazon Prime to feature in their own edition of the globally popular ‘All or Nothing’ series. According to The Athletic, Manchester United have negotiated what they describe as a “record access fee for any comparable documentary,” with the series set for a worldwide release in the summer of 2027. Filming is expected to commence this summer as the team prepares for a return to the UEFA Champions League.
The new documentary will join Amazon Prime’s growing portfolio of sports storytelling, which has previously spotlighted clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur. This version will follow United through a crucial rebuilding period following a strong 2025-26 campaign. Fans across more than 240 countries and territories will gain an inside view of the dressing room and the “inner sanctum” of the club’s recently refurbished Carrington Training Complex.
Amorim’s hesitation and how the deal came to be
The agreement did not come easily. Talks surrounding a potential documentary first began towards the close of the 2024-25 season. Reports from The Athletic revealed that Amazon had proposed a deal exceeding £10 million – the highest fee ever offered by the streaming platform for such a production.
Despite the substantial offer, the idea was initially put on hold as then-manager Ruben Amorim voiced strong objections. He believed the constant presence of cameras could distract the players during a period when the team was still recovering from inconsistent seasons. Amorim, who departed in January 2026, had felt that the timing was not right for such extensive exposure within the first-team environment.
However, under Michael Carrick’s leadership and with the club regaining stability and Champions League status, United’s top management reconsidered. The leadership group, led by CEO Omar Berrada and sporting director Jason Wilcox, viewed this as the perfect opportunity to showcase the club’s new direction under INEOS ownership. Both Berrada and Wilcox are expected to appear prominently in the series.
Club executives on granting ‘unprecedented’ access
Manchester United’s Chief Communications Officer Toby Craig elaborated on the rationale behind the move, stating: “Now is the right time to open our doors, so that for the first time our fans around the world can see behind the scenes of a club which means so much to so many people. This documentary will showcase Manchester United’s unique people, ambition and culture; from the iconic atmosphere at Old Trafford to the work that goes on behind the scenes every day at Carrington. We will share some of the stories of this historic club both with our fans and new audiences around the world as we compete at the highest level, both domestically and in the Champions League.”
The production is designed to provide an authentic and human perspective on the players and coaching staff, portraying the emotional highs and lows of a season at one of the most closely followed sporting institutions in the world. With a global fanbase estimated at 1.1 billion, Amazon is betting that the fascination surrounding the Red Devils will translate into massive viewing figures for what it labels a “global phenomenon.”
Amazon on telling ‘the story we had to tell’
Tara Erer, Head of UK Film and Unscripted Television and Northern European Originals for Amazon, expressed her enthusiasm about partnering with Manchester United. She said: “Manchester United is more than a football club: it is a global phenomenon. All or Nothing: Manchester United was a story we had to tell. From Old Trafford to every corner of the world, there is no club that commands this level of passion, history and obsession. That is exactly the kind of story we want to tell, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to customers everywhere.”
The upcoming series will follow United’s pursuit of success across all competitions, chronicling life under Carrick as the club strives to reassert its dominance both in the Premier League and in European football. Beyond the first team, the show will also explore the intricate operations that power one of the biggest clubs in world football behind the scenes.
