On one hand, Mamata Banerjee is very upset with the disintegration of Trinamool Congress, while on the other hand, days are going very bad for her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. Investigative agencies have been after Trinamool Congress since it lost power in West Bengal. Sometimes CID and sometimes ED are interrogating them. This interrogation is also not going on for some time but for many hours. Even today he has to appear for questioning.

TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee is on the target of investigating agencies these days. While the CID of West Bengal is continuously interrogating him in the fake signature case, the officers of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are questioning him in connection with the investigation of the alleged primary school recruitment scam. Today on Tuesday he has to appear before the CID again and this time the matter is related to his speech during the elections.

Inquiries will be held on provocative statements in elections

Last week on Friday, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had sent a notice to Abhishek Banerjee for allegedly making inflammatory statements during the election campaign. In the notice, he was asked to appear before the investigating officers on June 16. On Friday, the officials waited for about 2 hours to go to his house and personally hand over the notice.

However, when Abhishek could not meet, he had to hand over this notice to an employee in the TMC MP's office. The Diamond Harbor MP was not present at home when the officials went there for notice.

6 hours interrogation in primary school recruitment scam

Earlier on Monday, ED started questioning Abhishek Banerjee in connection with the investigation of the alleged primary school recruitment scam and it continued for 6 hours. This questioning of him is being done at a time when the CID had interrogated him for a long time on Sunday in the case of fake signatures of MLAs for the appointment of Leader of Opposition in the Bengal Assembly. Then this interrogation lasted for about 9 hours.

The Central Investigation Agency had prepared a list of two dozen questions for Abhishek in connection with the teacher recruitment scam. Investigating officers say that the entire interrogation process is being videographed, then it will be verified and matched with the evidence and statements of other accused arrested in this case.

The ED will also match financial documents, digital records and statements of other accused to trace the source and flow of the money earned from the scam. ED has already interrogated many people including former minister Chandranath Sinha in connection with the investigation of the scam. In this case, Abhishek was interrogated for 11 hours.

CID spent 9 hours questioning the fake signature issue

Earlier on Sunday, Abhishek appeared before CID in the fake signature case. Later in the afternoon, Trinamool leader and MLA Kunal Ghosh was also interrogated in the same case. He was also summoned by CID in the same case. Both of them were made to sit face to face and were interrogated. CID interrogated him continuously for 9 hours.

TMC MLAs had held a meeting at Abhishek's Kalighat residence on May 6 and proposed the name of Shobhandev Chattopadhyay for Leader of Opposition. Then the MLAs present in the meeting expressed their support by raising their hands. But the formal proposal was not given to the assembly.

Then the Assembly Secretariat had asked the party to propose the name of its candidate for this post after the TMC MLAs took oath on May 13 and 14. A meeting was held again on 19 May, then a document signed by 70 MLAs was handed over in support of Chattopadhyay. But later alleged differences were found in the signatures in these documents. FIR was registered and CID started investigation.
