Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, the creators of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, have announced their first feature film under a four-year deal with Paramount.

The untitled movie will be released on November 3, 2028, Variety revealed.

The project is being developed by the Duffer brothers' production company, Upside Down Pictures.

However, details about the film's plot remain under wraps for now.

Before Stranger Things, the Duffers directed a post-apocalyptic thriller titled Hidden.

Even though Warner Bros. released it on VOD after a long delay, the script earned praise from M Night Shyamalan, who later recruited the duo as writers for his 2015 Fox series Wayward Pines.

This eventually led to their creation of Stranger Things, which came out in July 2016 and became Netflix's first original hit series.

New partnership

After Stranger Things wrapped its fifth and final season, the Duffer brothers signed a four-year exclusive deal with Paramount.

This new partnership focuses on producing "ambitious" and "large-scale theatrical films."

It also brought them back together with Cindy Holland, Paramount's new head of streaming, who had greenlit Stranger Things at Netflix.

Matt had previously expressed their desire to make a theatrical film, saying, "If we're going to do a movie for the theaters, let's go!"
