In a major relief regarding the NEET UG 2026 refund process, the NTA has announced that students who entered incorrect bank details will receive another opportunity to rectify them after the exam. Here are the details regarding the refund process, bank verification, and other important updates.
Amidst the NEET UG 2026 examination process, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a significant update regarding fee refunds. The agency stated that refunds will be transferred only to the bank account details registered and verified on the official portal. Additionally, relief has been provided to students who made errors while entering their bank details; such candidates will be given another opportunity to make corrections after the exam.
Why providing correct bank details is crucial for the refund
According to the NTA, the refund process will be conducted entirely online and securely. Therefore, it is essential for candidates to ensure that the bank account they have entered is active and correct. If incorrect account information is submitted, the refund process could be delayed, or the payment might get stuck. The agency has stated that the refund will be sent only to an account linked to the candidate’s name that has been successfully verified on the portal. Consequently, students are advised to double-check their information.
How candidates can verify their bank details
The NTA has advised students to visit the official portal to verify their information. They can log in using their application number and either their password or date of birth. After logging in, candidates can navigate to the ‘Bank Verification’ section to check their bank account number, IFSC code, and account holder’s name. If any errors are found, it is crucial to rectify them in a timely manner.
Additional opportunity for those who entered incorrect information
The agency has taken this new decision following reports from several candidates regarding difficulties faced during the bank detail update and verification process. The NTA has announced that an additional correction window will be provided after the examination concludes. This facility will allow students who inadvertently entered incorrect bank account details—or whose information could not be verified due to technical issues—to update their data. The decision aims to ensure that no student is denied a refund solely due to a data entry error.
Decision taken following student concerns
Recently, many students had raised questions regarding the refund process via social media and other platforms, expressing concern that they might not receive their refunds if their bank details were incorrect. In light of these queries, the agency clarified that eligible candidates would be given an opportunity to make corrections, ensuring their funds safely reach the correct account.
Beware of cyber fraud
Alongside the refund process, the NTA has issued a warning regarding cyber security. The agency cautioned that individuals might attempt to defraud candidates by promising expedited refunds or claiming to facilitate bank verification. Students and parents are advised not to trust suspicious calls, SMS messages, emails, or social media links; official information should be obtained only from the relevant portal.
The agency has explicitly stated that the NTA never asks candidates for OTPs, passwords, UPI PINs, or any payment-related information.
