‘Specs’ AR Smart Glasses— Making a major breakthrough in the world of Augmented Reality (AR), a new Snap venture has launched its first consumer-focused AR smart glasses ‘Specs’ in the global market. This new company officially unveiled this device during the Augmented World Expo 2026 (AWE) held on Tuesday. This is the first major product launch of this new setup after Snap separated its smart wearables division as an independent venture last year.
The company has used Swiss TR90 polymer in its frame to give premium look and durability to these glasses. This material is known for its light weight and strength. Specs AR glasses are offered in two different sizes to provide a comfortable fit for every user.
On the tech front, these smart glasses run on two unspecified Snapdragon processors. These two chipsets work together to enable seamless hand tracking and other interactions between the user and the device. The company has claimed that they have filed more than 7,000 patents to protect the development and technology of this wearable device, which shows the deep research done on this project.
Along with the launch, the company has also made public the price and booking information of this premium device.
The company plans to start shipping these glasses in the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK) and France by fall this year (September-October 2026). However, Indian consumers may have to wait a little longer for this device. The company has not yet shared any official date regarding its launch or availability in other regions of the world including India.
