Actress Sasirekha Murder Case: In 2016, there was a stir when the decapitated body of Tamil actress Sasirekha was found in a dustbin in Chennai. Investigation revealed that her talent hunter husband Ramesh Shankar, along with his 14 years younger girlfriend Lavkia, had brutally strangled pregnant Shasirekha to death. In the beginning of 2016, a news from South's film industry shook the entire country including Chennai. Shasirekha, a rising actress, who was winning millions of hearts with her smile on screen, suddenly disappeared and when she was found, she was found in such a condition that even the policemen's eyes became moist. This story is not just about a murder, but it is the story of a dreadful deception and brutality, which has defamed the name of love.
This sensational bloody game started in January 2016. Tamil Nadu There was a stir in Polpakkam area of Chennai when the people there found a dead body of a woman in a big pile of garbage. But this was no ordinary dead body. Seeing the dead body, people were shocked because its head was missing. It was just a headless torso. The police immediately reached the spot, but without her face it was impossible to guess who this woman was. Ramesh Shankar used to run a talent management company in Chennai, whose job was to give a break to new boys and girls coming into films. It was in connection with this work that Shasirekha met Shankar. Gradually this meeting turned into love. Shasirekha felt that after the divorce, a true companion had come into her lonely life.
In 2011, Ramesh Shankar's first wife and parents committed suicide due to severe financial constraints, in which Shankar was considered a suspect. But Shasirekha, blinded by love, found her soulmate in Shankar and both of them got married in the court in August 2015. She had shifted to Shankar's house with her 8 year old son. But this happiness was a guest of only a few months.
Shortly after the marriage, 22 year old Lawly entered this relationship. Lavkia, who came to Chennai from a small town in Kerala with the dream of becoming a heroine, met 36 year old Shankar. Shankar made his portfolio and got him small roles. Gradually Shankar and Lavkia became very close to each other. This love grew to such an extent that Shankar threw Shasirekha out of the house for Lovekia. Shasirekha returned to her maternal home, but her self-respect was not allowing her to remain silent. She started creating ruckus by visiting Shankar's house every day and also had fierce fights with Lavkia. She had filed a complaint of domestic violence and cheating with the police in November 2015, in which she had alleged that Shankar had cheated her of lakhs of rupees in the name of getting work and tried to kidnap her son.

After police counselling, Shankar agreed to take Shasirekha back together to avoid legal troubles. Both of them took a house on rent in Madanandapuram near Kundrathur. Cunning Shankar also convinced Shasirekha that they would also keep her girlfriend Lavkia in the same house. All three lived under the same roof for some time, but there was constant conflict in the house. Meanwhile, Shasirekha became pregnant.
As soon as the news of Shasirekha's pregnancy came to light, fights started happening again in the house. Shankar had lied to Lavkia that he did not consider Shasirekha as his wife. Now the fights between Lavkia and Shankar started increasing, whose entire anger Shankar started taking out on pregnant Shasirekha by beating her.
On the night of January 4, 2016, a big debate again broke out in the house regarding the affair. Angered Shankar started beating Shasirekha mercilessly. During this fight, he attacked Shasirekha's head with some heavy object, due to which she became unconscious. After this, without any fear, Shankar killed Shasirekha by strangulating her.
Shankar's 14 years younger girlfriend Lavkia was also present there during this entire incident. Together they planned to hide this dreadful murder. With the help of Lavkia, Shankar separated Shasirekha's head from the body. They wrapped the torso in a sheet and hid it in the bathroom for a few hours and taking advantage of the silence of the night, both of them took Shashirekha's severed head in a bag and threw it in a deep canal of Kundrathur. The next day, with the intention of hiding the identity, they took away the remaining torso and threw it in the dustbin at Polpakkam near Ramapuram.

When the police started searching for Shankar after Shasirekha went missing, he was missing from the house. Eventually, with the help of informers, the police arrested him from a flat in Sholinganallur, where he had hidden Lavakiya, claiming that he was his sister. During interrogation, Shankar and Lavkia confessed to their crimes. After hard work, the police recovered Shasirekha's severed head from the canal.
Investigation also revealed that Shankar used to blackmail innocent girls by doing photoshoots under the guise of talent hunt and asking for wrong favors from them. Today Ramesh Shankar and his girlfriend Lavkia are serving the punishment for this crime behind the bars. Shasirekha's story is proof of how blind faith can turn a happy life into hell.
