There is news of great relief for those people living in UAE who were exempted from overstay fine for special reasons. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has now given them 30 days to correct their status. This opportunity is for those migrants and passengers who were stranded due to tension in the area and closure of flights.
ICP has informed that this grace period has started from June 10, 2026 and will remain in force till July 9, 2026. Its benefit will be available to those people who were exempted from overstay fine due to circumstances like closure of airports or cancellation of flights around February 28, 2026.
To avail this facility, people do not need any separate application or initial paperwork. During this 30 day period, affected people have two options. They can either correct their residency or employment status so they can legally live and work in the UAE, or leave the country without any penalties.
According to ICP, the purpose of this step is to ensure compliance with UAE laws and regulations. The official said that waiving the fine earlier was UAE’s humanitarian approach to help passengers in difficult times. Now that stability has returned to the region, this is the last chance for those affected to correct their status.
NRIs and other foreign nationals have been advised to stay connected to the official channels of ICP for updates and take their decision in time so that they do not face any legal troubles in future.
