Major Drug Bust in Nurpur: Police Seize 154 Grams of Heroin

In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the local police in Nurpur successfully confiscated 154 grams of heroin from two individuals in the Damtal region.


While conducting routine patrols and checkpoints in areas such as Kandwal, Lodhwa, Bhadroya, and Damtal, law enforcement received credible information regarding two suspects on a motorcycle who were allegedly poised to sell heroin near the Hilltop Durga Mata Temple in Damtal. Acting promptly, the police team executed a raid with independent witnesses present and conducted a search of a Hero Splendor motorcycle (JK08L-4514), uncovering the drugs concealed beneath the seat.


An FIR (No. 106/2026) has been filed at the Police Station Damtal under Sections 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act against the following suspects:



  • Paras (25), son of Kulwinder Singh, residing in Geeta Bhawan, Mohalla Islamabad, District Gurdaspur, Punjab.

  • Vijay Kumar (28), son of Shingara Ram, from Village Vahamani, Post Bahrampur, District Gurdaspur, Punjab.


  • Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify the source, supply chain, and other individuals involved in this interstate drug operation.


    The Nurpur Police have reiterated their dedication to eradicating drug-related issues in society and have encouraged the public to report any information regarding narcotics by calling helpline number 112, with assurances that the identities of informants will remain confidential.
