Midfielder Matías Galarza scored the decisive goal just 65 seconds into the match, capitalising on a clever flick-on from Julio Enciso before firing a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.The South Americans suffered a major setback in first-half stoppage time when Miguel Almirón was sent off following a VAR review, reducing Paraguay to 10 men. However, Gustavo Alfaro’s side defended resolutely to preserve their slender advantage.

Türkiye dominated possession and created a flurry of chances but paid the price for poor finishing. Mert Müldür came closest in the first half when his powerful header struck the woodwork, while Kenan Yildiz, Deniz Gül and Merih Demiral all squandered opportunities after the break.

Goalkeeper Orlando Gill emerged as Paraguay’s hero with a series of outstanding saves, including a brilliant stop from Can Uzun in the 89th minute. Gül then missed the rebound from close range, summing up Türkiye’s frustrating morning.

Türkiye launched a desperate late assault and nearly found an equaliser in stoppage time, but Demiral’s header from Arda Güler’s cross drifted agonisingly wide of the post.Despite registering 32 shots, including five on target, and generating significantly higher attacking numbers, Türkiye could not find a breakthrough against Paraguay’s determined defence.
