A rapidly escalating wildfire in the vicinity of Beaver, Utah, has led to mandatory evacuations, road closures, and a significant emergency response as firefighters face challenges in controlling the flames due to drought conditions and high winds. The Cottonwood Fire ignited on Monday afternoon within Fishlake National Forest, close to Cottonwood Campground along State Road 153. The fire, driven by dry vegetation, low humidity, and wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph, expanded overnight to cover over 27,000 acres. Authorities suspect human activity may have sparked the fire, which remains completely uncontained, according to reports. This fire is among the numerous wildfires currently active across Utah, with 342 reported statewide. Firefighters are bracing for another challenging day as forecasts predict continued hot, dry, and windy conditions. Red flag fire weather warnings are in effect across southern Utah and parts of western and central Colorado, where low humidity and strong winds could exacerbate existing fires and ignite new ones.
