Manchester United continue to be linked with multiple players during the current transfer window, although no new signings have been confirmed yet. The Premier League club are expected to strengthen their midfield before the next season begins, especially after Casemiro’s departure.

The Red Devils are determined to ensure the Brazilian’s absence does not affect the team’s performance, and recent reports indicate that they have already finalised an agreement to bring in his fellow countryman Ederson from Atalanta. While more midfield additions are expected before the transfer window closes, strengthening other areas of the squad remains a priority for INEOS as well.

Defensive frailties have been a recurring issue for United in recent campaigns, though some improvements have been seen under Michael Carrick’s guidance. However, with Harry Maguire now past 30 and Matthijs de Ligt struggling through an injury-hit season, the club might look to reinforce their backline with a new signing this summer.

According to a recent report carried by The Peoples Person, Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer has been identified as a potential candidate for the role.

Bremer is currently part of Brazil’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup but is yet to make an appearance in the tournament. The 29-year-old endured a mixed season, missing 18 matches for both club and country due to injuries.

The defender still managed to finish the season with four goals and three assists in 31 matches across all competitions for the Serie A side.

With Juventus ending last season sixth in the league and missing out on Champions League qualification, the 6’2” defender’s future has been widely discussed this summer. Earlier reports suggested that Bremer might be open to leaving Turin in search of new challenges.

However, a fresh update from Italian transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio appears to contradict those claims, offering news that may disappoint United supporters.

According to Di Marzio, Bremer has no intention of leaving this summer and is even keen to extend his stay with Juventus. He stated: “Despite rumours suggesting the Brazilian might depart Turin during this transfer window, the centre-back – based on information gathered by our editorial team – plans to remain with the Bianconeri and hopes to prolong his stay for the foreseeable future.”

Di Marzio further highlighted that Juventus’ Director of Football Strategy, Giorgio Chiellini, is a major influence behind Bremer’s decision. He elaborated: “One key reason is his deep admiration for Giorgio Chiellini.”

“The former Italian defender, now serving as Juventus’ Director of Football Strategy, is an idol for Bremer. He wishes to emulate Chiellini’s career path and retire at Juventus. At present, there are no signs that he intends to leave. Bremer is content in Turin and wants to stay.”

The journalist also mentioned that Bremer is frustrated with the ongoing rumours surrounding a possible exit, as he has no desire to part ways with the club. Di Marzio confirmed that no concrete offers have been made that could alter the player’s current stance.

He concluded: “In the transfer market, anything is possible, but at this moment there are no circumstances suggesting his departure, nor are there any offers that might persuade him to reconsider his position.”

Given that Bremer will turn 30 in March, Manchester United are unlikely to be overly discouraged by this development. Instead, the club is expected to continue exploring younger alternatives to Harry Maguire, with Chelsea’s promising defender Josh Acheampong emerging as a potential target.
