Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo produced another record-breaking performance as his side cruised to a commanding 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan in their second Group K match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday.
The match was played at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, with Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed in charge.
Ronaldo started the game and remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, scoring twice to help Portugal secure all three points. The veteran striker found the net in the sixth minute before adding his second goal in the 39th minute.
The brace also saw Ronaldo become Portugal's all-time leading scorer at FIFA World Cup tournaments, taking his tally to 10 goals in the competition.
The 41-year-old was heavily involved throughout the match, attempting seven shots, five of which were on target. He completed 68.4% of his passes during the contest.
Portugal will conclude their Group K campaign against Colombia on June 28 as they continue their bid to reach the knockout stage.
The World Cup group stage runs from June 11 to June 27, with each team playing three matches. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed finishers, will advance to the round of 32.
