The BBC has officially announced its full team of presenters, pundits, and commentators for Scotland’s decisive Group C clash against Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.
The crucial encounter between Scotland and Brazil is scheduled to kick off tonight at 11:00 PM British time, with both sides aiming to secure qualification to the next round of the tournament.
With the Group C standings still finely balanced, either nation could potentially top the group by the time play concludes at around 1:00 AM. Here’s a look at the BBC’s on-air line-up covering this much-anticipated contest.
The match will be held at Miami Stadium, with Mexican referee Cesar Ramos appointed as the official in charge of proceedings.
Leading the broadcast coverage for the BBC will be veteran presenter Kelly Cates, a respected broadcaster and the daughter of Scottish football legend Sir Kenny Dalglish. Cates has already hosted several Scotland fixtures at the 2026 World Cup for the BBC and continues to be a familiar face for fans following the national team.
Cates, the eldest daughter of Liverpool icon Dalglish, has long been associated with major football coverage and has fronted multiple World Cup broadcasts involving Scotland.
Joining her on the panel as pundits are three former professional players, each bringing a wealth of experience and insight to the studio.
First on the list is Rachel Corsie, the former Scotland international defender who earned 155 caps for her country and netted 20 goals during her illustrious international career.
She will be joined by ex-Celtic midfielder and former Scotland captain Scott Brown. Brown represented his country 55 times, scoring four goals and leading the national side on numerous occasions in front of the passionate Tartan Army.
Completing the trio is former Liverpool star and Brazil international Lucas Leiva. The popular midfielder, remembered fondly by fans on Merseyside, will lend his expertise to the coverage. Leiva, known as a cult hero at Anfield, carved a special niche in Liverpool folklore, and his humorous on-field moments, including a famous misfired shot that amused manager Jurgen Klopp, remain widely remembered.
Providing the live commentary for the match will be Scottish broadcaster Liam McLeod, who described the opportunity to call Scotland’s World Cup fixtures as a “huge honour.”
Supporting McLeod in the commentary box will be former Scotland forward James McFadden, who earned 48 caps for the national team and scored 15 goals across an eight-year international career. McFadden’s on-field experience and understanding of Scotland’s footballing culture are expected to add valuable insight to the live analysis.
