Chhattisgarh Weather: Monsoon active, rain-lightning and storm alert in these districts today, read IMD’s new update.

The weather has changed suddenly as soon as the south-west monsoon entered Chhattisgarh. There is a possibility of thunder, rain and lightning in the state till June 29. There are also chances of moderate to intense thunderstorms at some places for the next 2 days. There is no possibility of any significant change in the maximum temperature in the next three days but after this there may be a drop of 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.

The south-west monsoon, which reached the state on June 22, has already reached the central and southern parts and will cover some districts of the north and north-west regions in the next 24 hours. Since June 1, there has been 65 percent less rainfall than normal. On Thursday (25 June 2026), the maximum temperature in Raipur may be around 37 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature may be around 25 degrees Celsius. There is also a possibility of strong winds and rain with thunder.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Raipur, the seasonal trough lies at sea level from Rajasthan to Gangetic West Bengal via northern Madhya Pradesh, southern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. The upper air cyclonic circulation over south eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh is situated at 3.1 km above sea level. Due to the impact of these weather systems, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms at some places in the state till June 28-29. During this period, the wind speed can be 40-50 km per hour.

Alert in these districts on Thursday

There is a possibility of thunderstorm, lightning, sudden strong wind and rain in Raigarh, Jashpur, Kabirdham, Dhamtari, Rajnandgaon, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Baloda Bazar, Janjgir-Champa, Bilaspur, Korba, Gaurila-Penda-Marwahi, Bemetara, Mungeli, Surguja, Korea, Balrampur, Surajpur and Korea. During this period, the speed of the storm can be 40 to 60 km per hour.

In the last 24 hours, moderate to intense thunderstorms along with thunderstorms and rain were recorded at many places in the state. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 39.0 degrees Celsius in Bilaspur and the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 22.0 degrees Celsius in Rajnandgaon.
