Mexico can afford to ease off the pressure in this fixture, but for the Czech Republic, the stakes are considerably higher.
As co-hosts of the World Cup, Mexico have already secured their place in the round of 32 and are guaranteed to progress as group winners.
However, for the Czech Republic, only a victory is likely to be sufficient to advance to the next stage alongside their opponents.
FIFA has officially announced the refereeing team that will oversee the Czech Republic vs Mexico encounter, both on the field and through the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.
Argentinian referee Yael Falcon will be in charge, marking his second assignment of the tournament. The 37-year-old official has enjoyed a swift rise in his career since beginning his refereeing journey in 2017. Just last month, he officiated the Torneo Apertura final in Argentina, where Belgrano triumphed 3-2 over River Plate to claim the championship title.
Falcon previously officiated Sweden’s commanding 5-1 victory over Tunisia earlier in the World Cup.
Assisting him on the sidelines will be fellow Argentinians Maximilliano Del Yesso and Facundo Rodriguez, who have also been appointed as assistant referees.
From Chile, Cristian Garay has been designated as the fourth official, while Jose Retamal will serve as the reserve assistant referee for the match.
While the Czech Republic are in urgent need of a favourable result to stay in contention, Mexico approach the game from a position of comfort, having already topped their group with two wins out of two.
The VAR officials for this match are yet to be confirmed by FIFA.
