There is important news for the crores of members of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). The EPFO is undertaking a major technical upgrade to further enhance its digital systems. During this process, several online services will remain temporarily unavailable from June 26 to June 28, 2026. Consequently, employees needing to handle tasks related to PF withdrawals, advances, or other claims should plan accordingly.
The EPFO states that this change is being implemented to make services faster, more secure, and more convenient in the future. However, members may face some inconvenience during the upgrade period. The organization has appealed to members for their cooperation.
**New claims cannot be submitted for three days**
According to information provided by the EPFO, several services on the portal will be unavailable from 12:00 AM on June 26, 2026, until 11:59 PM on June 28, 2026. During this time, members will be unable to file new claims or access services related to claim processing. This temporary suspension is due to database consolidation and the upgrading of the claim processing system. The EPFO aims to improve both the speed and quality of services following these technical changes. According to the organization, services will resume normally starting June 29.
**Which services will be affected?**
Online claim-related services will be the most affected during the upgrade. During this period, members will not be able to submit new PF claims, advance claims, or other online requests. Additionally, the claim processing workflow will be temporarily impacted.
However, claims submitted prior to the start of the upgrade will be processed later in accordance with established procedures. The EPFO has clarified that this is merely a temporary technical interruption, and pending tasks will be completed on a priority basis once services are restored. Use these alternatives
While the portal remains unavailable, members can use alternative channels to access their account details. The EPFO has recommended using the UMANG app, SMS, WhatsApp, and missed call services.
Through the UMANG app, members can view details such as their PF balance, passbook, and claim status. Additionally, account-related information can be obtained by using the EPFO's missed call services from a registered mobile number. SMS services will also provide members with basic account information.
Experts advise members who require an urgent PF withdrawal or need to file other claims to submit their applications by June 25. Doing so will help avoid delays caused by the system upgrade. The EPFO has been continuously strengthening its digital services over the past few years. The organization believes that following the current system upgrade, the claim settlement process will become faster, and members will enjoy an improved online experience.
