UP: How beneficial is the scholarship scheme for backward class students, how did Prayagraj become the first?

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously doing effective work in the field of education. Yogi government's scholarship schemes have proved to be very effective in providing financial assistance for higher education, especially to students from backward classes. The government's Backward Class Post-10th Scholarship/Fees Reimbursement Scheme has emerged as a new ray of hope for lakhs of students. Prayagraj district has stood first in the entire state in terms of number of beneficiaries.

Uttar Pradesh In Prayagraj, more than 1.69 lakh students have got the benefit of scholarship. This scheme is giving a strong foundation to the students from economically weak families to move forward in the field of education. This initiative of Yogi government has directly benefited lakhs of families and the path to higher education has become easier for students.

More than 1.34 lakh students got scholarship in Ghazipur

In the year 2025-26, more than 27 lakh students have been given scholarship under the Backward Class Post-Major Scholarship Scheme. In Prayagraj, 1,69489 students have got the benefit of scholarship. After Prayagraj, Ghazipur district has been in second place, where more than 1.34 lakh students have been given scholarship. Whereas in Azamgarh, more than 1.19 lakh students have got the benefit. Similarly, in Jaunpur, more than 1.15 lakh students have got the benefit of the scheme, while in Varanasi, 88,859 students have been provided scholarship. These figures show that the scholarship scheme is leaving a wide impact in various districts of the state.

Along with students, transgenders also got help

If we look at the figures of scholarship distribution, scholarship has been provided to 4,72,764 girl students in class 11-12. Whereas 3,80,667 students and 2 transgenders have also been given scholarship. In the field of higher education, 10,01,084 girl students, 9,31,906 boys and 8 transgenders have been given the benefit of scholarship. The post-10th scholarship scheme is not limited to only the intermediate level but also covers higher education and professional courses. Along with students of class 11 and 12, students studying in professional courses like B.Tech, MBBS, MBA and courses like BA, B.Sc., B.Com, ITI and Polytechnic are also being given this benefit.

Scholarship distribution process made transparent and simple

The main objective of this scheme is to give children from economically weaker families an opportunity to progress in the field of education. Students whose parents' annual income is Rs 2 lakh or less are being given the benefit of the scheme. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the Yogi government has made the scholarship distribution process completely transparent and simple. Students apply online on the Scholarship Management System website, making the process faster and easier. After acceptance, the scholarship amount is sent directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

The benefits of the scholarship scheme are reaching a large number of students.

Director of Backward Class Welfare Department, Umesh Pratap Singh said that the aim of the Yogi government is that no student of the state should be deprived of education due to financial lack. The benefits of the schemes are reaching a large number of students and other eligible sections. He said that the state government is working with full commitment to take education to the last person of the society. The objective of Post-10 Scholarship Scheme is to provide strong financial support to the students of economically weaker section to move ahead in the field of education.
