India's fielding woes continued in their crucial Women's T20 World Cup clash against Bangladesh, with the team dropping four catches during the powerplay.

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana won the toss and elected to bat. India, smarting from a defeat to South Africa, made two changes, bringing in Radha Yadav and Renuka Thakur for Prema Yadhav and Arundhati Reddy. Bangladesh stuck with the same XI that had beaten Pakistan.

With India, South Africa, and Bangladesh all locked on four points after three matches, separated only by net run rate, this was a high-stakes contest in the race for the semi-finals. Australia is currently at the top of Group 1 with four wins from four.

The first missed chance came in the third over. Juairiya Ferdous top-edged a sweep off Shree Charani, and the ball looped towards short fine leg. Yastika Bhatia sprinted across and dived, but despite getting a finger to it, she couldn't hold on.

The next over brought another reprieve. Juairiya pulled Renuka Singh towards deep midwicket, where Radha Yadav, stationed perfectly, got both hands to the ball but let it slip. For a fielder of Radha's quality, it was an uncharacteristic error, especially after she had dropped two catches off Marizanne Kapp in the previous match against South Africa.

The misses continued in the fifth over. Sobhana Mostary sliced a drive towards cover, and Nandani Sharma dived to her left, got both hands to it, but couldn't complete the catch. One ball later, Nandani was again in the action, this time chasing a top-edge from Juairiya towards the short third. She covered ground quickly and threw herself into another dive, but the ball didn't stick.

Four chances went down in the space of 11 deliveries, leaving India visibly frustrated. The dropped catches allowed Bangladesh to recover from early pressure and reach 40/1 at the end of the power play.

This continues a worrying trend for India. Against South Africa, Radha's two dropped chances allowed Marizanne Kapp to score an unbeaten 81 and steer her team to a six-wicket win.
