Jordan and Argentina are set to wrap up their Group J campaigns with a much-anticipated clash.
Defending World Cup champions Argentina have already booked their place in the Round of 32 after securing top spot with two victories inspired by Lionel Messi.
For Jordan, however, their debut World Cup journey is coming to an early close as the team has already been eliminated at the group stage.
So, who will take charge of the fixture at Arlington's Dallas Stadium?
Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs has been appointed as the match official for the encounter between Al-Nashama and La Albiceleste. Kovacs brings with him a wealth of experience, having overseen more than 600 professional matches.
The seasoned official has previously been in charge of high-profile fixtures, including the UEFA Champions League semi-final between Manchester City and Real Madrid in April 2022.
He also officiated the 2025 final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, as well as the inaugural UEFA Conference League final in 2022 and the 2024 Europa League final.
Kovacs has an extensive track record at major international competitions too, having served as fourth official at the 2022 World Cup and refereed two group stage matches at Euro 2024.
At 41, Kovacs earned a milestone achievement this summer by officiating the 1,000th World Cup match, which featured Tunisia and Japan.
Known for his strict approach to discipline, Kovacs has issued a total of 3,154 yellow cards across 604 games — an average of just over five per match.
He has also shown a notable number of red cards, with 206 dismissals to his name, including setting a European Championship record for the most cards in a single game.
Supporting him in this Group J finale will be Romanian assistants Mihai Marica and Ferencz Tunvogi. Dahane Beida from Mauritania has been designated as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Completing the officiating team is Jerson Santos from Angola, who will serve as the Reserve Assistant Referee.
