In this, cybercriminals are targeting high-ranking officials and executives. Cybercriminals send fake links containing malware via WhatsApp messages, emails or SMS. This is a matter of great concern.

The agency said cybercriminals can make large financial transactions using executives’ Windows devices and active WhatsApp web sessions through malware.

This is how scams happen

First of all, cybercriminals contact CEOs or higher officials through e-mail or WhatsApp. Cybercriminals send emails to CEOs or top executives pretending to be RBI or other regulators. After the contact is established, cybercriminals send files with .zip, .exe or .dll extensions to executives’ emails or WhatsApp messages.
