Why being always busy is unhealthy: In today’s world, being busy is considered success. Always working, always available and always on the move has become the parameter of success. This culture of workplace and social media has a very bad effect on our mental health.

Apart from this, good thinking and positive attitude towards work is more important, but if you are working continuously without rest, then it can have a very bad effect on mental and physical health.

This habit is often called toxic productivity. These problems become even more serious in a highly competitive environment. The most serious problem with toxic productivity is that the mind and body do not get enough time to rest. Constantly putting too much burden on a person’s mind can adversely affect the ability to concentrate, emotional stability, decision making capacity and physical health.

Symptoms of Toxic Productivity

  • People who appear very successful or accomplished on the outside may feel emotionally exhausted on the inside. Common causes of stress include constant stress, irritability, anxiety, sleep disturbances, lack of rest, lack of emotions, lack of motivation, headaches and burnout.
  • Such people lose interest in their hobbies, socializing with people or even taking care of themselves because they feel that they must always be productive. They may feel guilty or anxious even when sleeping. In severe cases, depression, panic attacks, emotional breakdown and constant mental fatigue can occur.
  • Social media also contributes to increasing this problem. Hustle culture and the habit of comparing with others can make a person feel like he or she is not doing enough, even though he or she is already overburdened with work.

how to get rid of it

  • Don’t consider rest as laziness. It is very important to be emotionally and mentally well. This includes spending time with family and friends, taking breaks every now and then, pursuing hobbies, and getting plenty of sleep. In fact, when there is a right balance between work and rest, people are able to be more productive at work.
  • Setting limits on work and screen time, taking regular breaks, and giving yourself rest can have a big impact on mental health.
  • Healthy lifestyle does not mean working out all the time, but in a balanced and long-lasting manner.
