New Delhi: Toyota is preparing to introduce the ninth-generation Hilux in India on July 28, marking one of the biggest updates for the popular lifestyle pickup truck. The latest version of the Hilux made its global debut in November 2025 and was recently spotted undergoing testing in Delhi, indicating that the India launch is approaching.
The new Hilux is expected to arrive with a more premium approach, featuring a redesigned exterior, upgraded interiors, advanced technology and an updated powertrain. Due to these major changes, the upcoming model is likely to be priced higher than the current version, which is sold between ₹28.52 lakh and ₹35.85 lakh (ex-showroom).
Sharper Design With Stronger Road Presence
Based on Toyota’s “Tough and Agile” design philosophy, the new Hilux gets a more modern and aggressive appearance while maintaining its rugged identity.
The front profile now features slimmer LED headlamps connected through a black panel with Toyota lettering, along with a larger honeycomb grille and redesigned bumper. The pickup also gets sharper body lines, wider wheel arches and new 17-inch alloy wheels.
At the rear, updated C-shaped LED tail lamps, a bold Toyota wordmark and redesigned bumper steps add to the refreshed look.
Premium Cabin With Advanced Features
The biggest transformation comes inside the cabin, where Toyota has introduced a completely redesigned dashboard layout. The interior now features dual 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system.
The new Hilux is expected to offer several premium features, including ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, connected car technology, terrain modes, a 360-degree camera and over-the-air updates.
Higher variants may also receive Toyota’s latest ADAS safety package with features such as blind-spot monitoring and driver assistance systems.
Mild-Hybrid Diesel Likely for India
The India-spec model is expected to continue with the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine producing around 204bhp and 500Nm torque. However, Toyota may introduce a 48V mild-hybrid system similar to the one seen on the Fortuner.
The setup is expected to improve efficiency, refinement and driving response while retaining the Hilux’s durability.
Price and Launch Expectations
The new Hilux is likely to start above ₹30 lakh, with top variants expected to move closer to ₹40 lakh (ex-showroom). While Toyota has revealed electric and hydrogen versions globally, India is expected to receive the mild-hybrid diesel version initially.
