Following the change in US policy, Anthropic will resume global access to its most advanced artificial intelligence models. Last month, Claude Fable and Mythos went offline for all users after the Donald Trump administration imposed export control restrictions to prevent use by foreign nationals. This step was taken just days after the company expanded the scope of 'Project Glasswing' to give early access to advanced chatbots to Indian companies and developers.
The company wrote, we have received information that the Department of Commerce has removed export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. We will begin restoring access tomorrow and will provide an update soon. In a post on X, Anthropic praised users' patience and also thanked those who have worked with the AI startup to redeploy its top AI models.
According to The New York Times report, American officials have completely withdrawn their order issued on June 12. The Commerce Department lifted the restrictions, Secretary Howard Latnick told the company that it no longer needs a license to export or domestically transfer its Claude Mythos and Claude Fable AI models. According to the report, a letter written to the company said that Anthropic has taken steps with the US government to address the risks associated with Cloud Mythos 5 and Cloud Fable 5.

More than two weeks later, Anthropic was forced to bar its two top-tier models from being used by anyone who was not a US citizen (including the company's own foreign employees). However, the AI startup decided to block all users from using these two advanced models because it was unable to reliably verify each user's citizenship in real-time.
These restrictions were imposed during the ongoing tough confrontation between Anthropic and the Trump administration. However, now with this change it seems that whatever conflict there was has now been resolved, after which the way has now been cleared for the company to start functioning normally to a large extent.
