Friends, you can see the effect of increasing global warming in Europe, which has seen frequent and severe heat waves in recent years, and is emerging as a big market for cooling equipment. Seeing this opportunity, Indian air conditioning manufacturers are preparing to expand their business in Europe and are expected to start commercial sales in 2027, let’s know the complete details.

Entering the European market will not be easy. Indian companies will face stringent regulations, higher manufacturing costs and stiff competition from already established Chinese and South Korean brands.

Indian companies preparing to expand in Europe

According to the report, Godrej Enterprises Group has been assessing opportunities in Europe since last year. Kamal Nandi, head of the company’s appliances business, said that this year’s scorching heat has further strengthened the prospects of the European market.

He said immediate entry is not possible because products must first meet Europe’s stringent certification and compliance standards. The company is now planning a commercial launch in summer 2027.

Government support for AC exports

The Indian government sees air conditioners as one of the country’s next big manufacturing success stories, just as was the case with the smartphone industry.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav have encouraged domestic manufacturers to increase exports and strengthen India’s presence in global cooling equipment markets.

Notably, air conditioners are the only major ‘white goods’ category covered under the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, highlighting the strategic importance of the sector.

Many companies are eyeing the European market

Havells is planning to export air conditioners and fans to Europe through its distributor network after strengthening its presence in the US market.

Contract manufacturer Amber Enterprises, which supplies to brands like LG, Daikin, Samsung and Blue Star, is also exploring export opportunities.

Global companies such as LG, Daikin and Haier are expanding export-oriented manufacturing facilities in India, allowing them to ship products directly to European markets.
