Aadhaar Free Update: UIDAI has taken a big decision which will benefit Aadhaar card holders. UIDAI has decided not to charge any fee for e-mail update in Aadhaar card at present. That means now Aadhaar card holders can update e-mail in their Aadhaar card from home without spending a single rupee. This service will continue from today 1 July to 31 December 2026. It is hoped that crores of users will take advantage of this service to update their e-mails.

Once the e-mail of the card holder is updated in the Aadhaar data, OTP verification and online service access will be very easy. Also, the process of saving the document will be very easy. Users using mobile app will get discount

According to UIDAI, this service will be offered only to users who are updating their email through the Aadhaar app. Users who update their e-mail using the mobile app will not have to spend any money. But if you update e-mail in Aadhaar through Aadhaar Center or any other means, you will have to pay a fee for it.

Why is it necessary to link e-mail in Aadhaar?

Often, if there is no signal in the mobile, the Aadhaar OTP does not come. But if you have linked your e-mail to your aadhaar, then the card holder can get the OTP from the e-mail. They will also receive Aadhaar updates via email. Even if you change the mobile number linked to Aadhaar, you will still have the option to receive the OTP through e-mail.

Follow this process to update e-mail in Aadhaar

• First of all install the official Aadhaar app on your smartphone. You can install this app for free from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
• After this open the app and login with the help of Aadhaar number and mobile number linked.
• After login you will get option to update e-mail in profile option.
• After clicking on the email update option, confirm the email and now an OTP will be sent to the email id you provided.
• Now enter the OTP and your e-mail will be linked with Aadhaar after verification is completed.

Who should update?

Users who have not yet updated e-mail in Aadhaar card, need to link e-mail in Aadhaar card immediately. Also, if your Aadhaar is already linked and you have created a new ID, you can still update your new e-mail. This will facilitate the process of Aadhaar OTP verification.
