Lamborghini has unveiled its newest flagship SUV, the Urus SE Performante, marking a new chapter for the brand’s high-performance lineup. Officially revealed on Wednesday, this version takes the plug-in hybrid Urus SE as its foundation and elevates it with the aggressive styling and performance enhancements expected from a Performante badge.
Power output has received a notable bump compared to the SE. The combination of a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and an electric motor delivers an impressive 801 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, making it the most potent Urus ever built. Lamborghini claims the SUV sprints from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds—the same as the petrol-only Urus Performante. However, this hybrid variant produces 144 horsepower more than its predecessor, compensating for the added weight of a 25.9-kilowatt-hour battery pack and an electric motor system.
Like its predecessor, the Urus SE Performante continues to prioritise sharp handling and dynamic driving. Lamborghini introduces a new “AURA” dual-chamber air suspension system paired with dual-valve dampers. According to the company, the primary air chamber is tuned for “pure dynamics and track driving,” while the secondary chamber focuses on providing enhanced comfort. This setup aims to balance hardcore track performance with the everyday usability expected by Urus owners. Unlike the steel spring suspension used in the previous version, this updated configuration should make the SUV significantly more comfortable for daily driving.
Beyond the suspension improvements, Lamborghini has widened the track by 0.6 inches to enhance lateral stability. Buyers can also opt for wider 22-inch wheels fitted with Bridgestone Potenza Race tyres. The Urus SE Performante benefits from the same 6D sensor and “Integrated Power Brake” control unit first seen in the one-off Fenomeno concept. Lamborghini says this advanced sensor system delivers a 10 percent increase in braking power and a 12 percent improvement in system responsiveness compared to the prior Urus Performante.
Handling is further improved by a reworked aerodynamic package that generates 16 percent more downforce than the original Performante. Lamborghini attributes this to a redesigned front splitter, while new upper and lower spoilers enhance high-speed stability. The carbon-fibre bonnet features vents designed in an S-duct configuration, improving thermal management for the powertrain. Even the braking system benefits, with an 8 percent boost in cooling efficiency thanks to a new NACA duct integrated into the front splitter that channels cool air over the discs and calipers.
Inside and out, carbon fibre is used more extensively than on any previous Urus. Lamborghini reports a weight reduction of roughly 70 pounds compared to the SE, achieved through a lightweight titanium Akrapovic exhaust system, reduced sound insulation, lightweight interior materials, and the extensive use of carbon-fibre components. Despite these measures, the hybrid SUV still tips the scales at 5,472 pounds—about 700 pounds heavier than the older non-hybrid Performante.
The Urus SE Performante also debuts a new Rally driving mode, which Lamborghini says is “specially tuned to deliver maximum driving excitement on loose surfaces.” Pricing details have yet to be announced, but it is expected to become the most expensive member of the Urus family when it reaches showrooms.
