Greater Noida Electricity Bill: As temperatures rise, the use of air conditioners and coolers in homes increases, leading to higher electricity bills. In such a scenario, a discount on the bill offers significant relief. If you live in Greater Noida, UP, you are likely aware that consumers here have been receiving a 10% discount on their electricity bills for quite some time. However, many people still do not know the reason behind this discount. If you are unaware, find out today.
Relief provided to these users by the government
The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has not increased electricity tariffs for the 2026-27 financial year. Additionally, the Commission has continued the 10% discount on electricity bills for users in the Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) service area. In other words, there have been no changes to this policy, and consumers will continue to receive the 10% discount.
What is the reason for the 10% discount?
According to the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC), the discount is being provided because, over the past few years, the power company had collected excess charges from users under various expense heads. Consequently, the 10% discount is being offered to provide relief to the users. This excess amount totaled approximately ₹1,500 crore.
How long will the discount continue?
According to regulations, power companies cannot retain excess amounts collected from consumers.
Therefore, the Commission directed that this money be returned to the users in the form of a discount.
This is why users are receiving a 10% discount on their monthly electricity bills. This concession will continue until the excess amount collected is fully recovered.
Consumers are benefiting.
Users are finding relief due to the monthly discount on electricity bills, which is also helping them reduce their monthly expenses.
