There is a lot of talk about the harmful aspects of using a mobile phone while it is charging, but its benefits are not the same with power banks. However, do you know that there is a danger of serious damage from a power bank explosion when it is charged? Even if the damage is large, it can lead to loss of life!

Shivani recently posted on social media account about this situation.

Popular YouTuber Shivani Kapila had to witness such horror recently. The Suratani-based YouTuber’s channel is known as ‘Little Gloves’, where he used to post daily vlogs with family members. Three days ago, he posted on his social media account about a terrible incident that happened at his home. Shivani left the house charging the power bank. Come and see it exploded! All the furniture, clothes and even the YouTube silver, gold and diamond play button were burnt to ashes!

This event is rare but not impossible. Do you know why this happens?

  • Low Quality or Fake Power Banks: Risk increases if there is no overcharge, short circuit, overheating protection etc.
  • Overheating: Prolonged charging, use in the sun or in hot environments may cause the battery to overheat.
  • Damaged battery: Using a power bank that has been dropped, pressure damaged, or inflated poses a risk of fire.
  • Defective charger or cable: Short circuits can also occur from low-quality or damaged charging accessories.
  • Manufacturing defects: In rare cases, an internal fault in the battery may cause a fire.

Be alert if you see any symptoms?

  • The power bank is heating up abnormally.
  • The battery is swelling or changing shape.
  • Burning smell, smoke or hissing sound is heard.
  • Repeatedly having problems charging or paying.

Discontinue use immediately if such symptoms occur. Store in a safe, open area and do not recharge. Dispose of damaged power banks safely as e-waste without repairing them.
