Bournemouth have reached an agreement valued at up to £25.7 million to bring in Elche forward Alvaro Rodriguez. The Uruguay youth international is set to undergo a medical examination before putting pen to paper on a long-term contract, while his former side, Real Madrid, stand to gain significantly from a sell-on clause included in his previous transfer.
Bournemouth secure promising young striker
The Cherries have agreed an initial payment of £21.4 million with Elche for Rodriguez, with the total potentially increasing to £25.7 million through performance-related add-ons, according to BBC reports. The 21-year-old delivered an impressive season in La Liga, registering seven goals and five assists across 34 appearances.
Rodriguez is scheduled to complete his medical on Monday before signing a contract that will keep him at Bournemouth until June 2031. The Premier League club view him as an important reinforcement to strengthen their attacking options following their best-ever league finish.
Real Madrid set to benefit financially
The deal also represents a major financial boost for Real Madrid. The Spanish club had secured a 50% sell-on clause when they sold Rodriguez to Elche last summer for just €2 million. As a result of the latest agreement between the clubs, Los Blancos are expected to earn approximately €12.5 million, continuing their successful policy of retaining economic rights over their academy graduates.
Bournemouth look ahead under Marco Rose
Rodriguez’s arrival coincides with a new era at Bournemouth under the guidance of manager Marco Rose. The German coach, who has replaced Andoni Iraola, is focused on assembling a team capable of competing both in domestic competitions and potentially on the European stage. The addition of Rodriguez is expected to create healthy competition for Evanilson and may influence the future of Enes Unal, with reports suggesting the club could entertain offers for the Turkish forward as part of their squad restructuring plans.
Medical and contract completion expected soon
Once Rodriguez completes his medical and signs his contract—set to run until June 2031—he will join Bournemouth’s pre-season preparations. Alongside new arrivals, the club are also working to retain key players such as Alex Scott, who continues to attract interest from several Premier League sides.
