Dr Chinmay Pandya to represent India at Geneva Global Summit; Speak on Faith, Ethics and AI

New Delhi: Dr Chinmay Pandya, Head of Global Interfaith Leader and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya University (DSVV), Haridwar, will represent India at the 4-day seventh AI for Good Global Summit, scheduled to be held from 7 to 10 July, 2026, at Geneva’s Palexpo convention centre.

Dr Pandya will join global leaders, policymakers, technology experts, academics, civil society representatives and industry voices at the flagship summit, which is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations agency for digital technologies. He will be the only speaker from India at the key global platform.

Growing focus on sovereign AI

The summit comes at a time when countries across the world are rapidly shaping their artificial intelligence strategies, with growing focus on sovereign AI, responsible deployment and the wider impact of AI on economies and societies. Geneva is expected to become a major global center for AI discussions in July as the AI ​​for Good Global Summit is held back-to-back with the inaugural UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance.

Over four days, AI for Good will bring together leaders from government, industry, academia, civil society and the technical community to explore how artificial intelligence can be guided for the benefit of humanity. The summit will feature live demonstrations of innovations in agentic AI, edge AI, brain-computer interfaces, space computing and robotics, alongside discussions on national AI strategies and global cooperation.

Dr Pandya to focus on faith and technology

Dr Pandya to participate in a session focused on faith, ethics, technology and public policy. The discussion will examine how diverse ethical and spiritual perspectives can contribute to the responsible development and deployment of AI. Key issues such as human dignity, agency, transparency, truthfulness, inclusion, accountability and trust in AI systems will be part of the dialogue.

Other speakers at the summit include Alessandra Sala, Chair of AI and Multimedia Standards Collaboration and Senior Director of Artificial Intelligence and Data at Shutterstock; Brian Patrick Green, Director of Technology Ethics at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, Santa Clara University; and Fadi Daou, Executive Director of Globethics, who will moderate the session.

AI moves to real-world deployment: ITU Secretary-General

ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin said that as AI moves from strategy to real-world deployment, countries need skills, solutions and international standards to make AI work for everyone. She said AI for Good helps turn AI breakthroughs into practical ways to improve lives, while the UN Global Dialogue will allow Member States and stakeholders to exchange views on policies shaping the future of AI.

Founded in 1865, ITU works with 194 Member States and more than 1,000 organizations, including companies, universities and civil society groups. It coordinates global radio spectrum and satellite orbit use, develops international technology standards and works to expand digital connectivity worldwide.
