These days, Team India is on a tour of England, where a 5-match T20 series is being played between the two teams. The first match was canceled due to rain, while in the second match, host England defeated the Indian team by 4 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the series. In the second match, 15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi also made his international debut for Team India. Vaibhav registered his name in the record books of Indian cricket as soon as he made his debut at the age of just 15 years and 99 days.

By surpassing the great batsman Sachin Tendulkar, Vaibhav has now become the youngest player to make his international debut for Team India. But Vaibhav could not break the world record of making international debut at the youngest age, which is still held by a Pakistani player.

New record made in T20I

As soon as Vaibhav Suryavanshi took the field against England, he made a new record in T20 International cricket. Vaibhav, who debuted at the age of 15 years and 99 days, has now become the youngest player to debut in T20 International among the full member countries. In this matter he left behind Ireland’s all-rounder Joshua Little. Joshua Little played his first T20 International match against Hong Kong on 5 September 2016 at the age of 16 years and 309 days.

In whose name is the world record?

Although Vaibhav Suryavanshi has broken many records, the world record for making the youngest debut in international cricket is still held in the name of former Pakistan cricketer Hasan Raza. According to records, Hasan Raza made his international debut on 15 October 1996 in a Test match against Zimbabwe at the age of 14 years and 233 days. There has been controversy for years regarding Hasan Raza’s record. After his debut, questions were raised about his actual age and there was a lot of discussion on this topic.

Later, when doubts arose about his age, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) withdrew the claim that Hasan Raza was the youngest debutant in men’s Test cricket history. For this reason his record remains a subject of debate even today.

How was Hasan Raza’s performance in the debut match?

In his first Test match, Hasan Raza, batting at number five, scored 27 runs in 48 balls. However, his international career did not last long. Despite this, he performed brilliantly in domestic first-class cricket and demonstrated his batting ability by scoring 13,949 runs in a career spanning almost two decades.
