Pahalgam (Jammu and Kashmir) [भारत]July 6 (ANI): The fourth batch of pilgrims for Amarnath Yatra 2026 left from Nunwan Base Camp in Pahalgam on Monday morning to continue their journey towards the holy cave of Shri Amarnath. The 57-day pilgrimage began on July 3, which is being heavily monitored using digital surveillance and RFID tracking systems to ensure crowd management and safety. The annual yatra is scheduled to end with the festival of Raksha Bandhan on August 28.

Earlier on Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha reviewed the arrangements and security measures for the Amarnath Yatra at Nunwan Base Camp in Pahalgam. LG Manoj Sinha said the discussions with senior officials focused on the movement of pilgrims, security measures, accommodation facilities and progress of registration.
In an ex post, he said he also interacted with the pilgrims and assured them of a safe and hassle-free journey. LG Sinha wrote, "Today, I visited Nunawan Base Camp in Pahalgam to review the management of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra with senior officials. The discussion focused on key aspects such as movement of pilgrims, security measures, accommodation facilities, progress of registration and other logistics requirements required for a hassle-free holy yatra."
The X post further read, "I directed the officials to give priority to the safety and convenience of all pilgrims, while also ensuring that every devotee of Baba Barfani is made aware of the importance of valid registration with stipulated dates to minimize the waiting time. During the visit, I interacted with the pilgrims and assured them that the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and all Yatra management departments are working tirelessly to ensure a safe, smooth and hassle-free spiritual journey." Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force has set up a 24x7 emergency response camp on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to ensure the safety of pilgrims during the Amarnath Yatra.
According to Kartar Singh, Sub-Inspector, Jammu and Kashmir SDRF, the camp has been set up under the instructions of the Additional Director General of Police. Sub-Inspector Singh told ANI on Saturday, "Our team has at least 20 personnel, including members of both SDRF and Home Guards. This camp has been set up under the instructions of the ADG, and we are deployed on the national highway for the pilgrimage." (ANI)
