Arrow McLaren has made two major additions to its IndyCar lineup, signing Scott Dixon and Felix Rosenqvist for the upcoming season. These announcements represent the most significant recruitment moves in the modern era of the McLaren IndyCar team. The new contracts underline the team’s intensified focus on the Indianapolis 500, with all three full-time cars built around the goal of winning the historic race. Pato O'Ward and Indianapolis 500-only entrant Ryan Hunter-Reay will continue with the team, rounding out a highly competitive driver lineup alongside Rosenqvist and Dixon.

Six-time IndyCar champion and 58-time race winner Scott Dixon is widely regarded as the most accomplished American open-wheel driver over the past fifty years. He currently trails AJ Foyt by only one championship and eight victories, leaving him within reach of breaking both of IndyCar’s most celebrated records outside of the Indianapolis 500. Now 45 years old, Dixon begins what could be the final phase of his illustrious career. His move to McLaren marks the end of a remarkable 25-year partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing, a collaboration that stands as the most successful driver-team combination in American open-wheel racing history.

Felix Rosenqvist, on the other hand, joins McLaren as a two-time IndyCar race winner. The Swedish driver re-enters the team after previously racing for Arrow McLaren between 2021 and 2023, having initially moved from Chip Ganassi Racing. He returns following a strong three-season tenure with Meyer Shank Racing, highlighted by his dramatic last-corner overtake that secured victory at the 2026 Indianapolis 500. During his first stint with Arrow McLaren, Rosenqvist’s best championship finish was eighth, achieving three podiums over three years.

Interestingly, the new lineup means all three of Dixon, Rosenqvist, and Hunter-Reay are Indianapolis 500 winners. They replace young prospect Nolan Siegel and two-time 2026 race victor Christian Lundgaard, both of whom have shown relative weakness on oval circuits. The reshuffled lineup joins two-time Indianapolis 500 runner-up Pato O'Ward, forming a team clearly structured around achieving further success at the Brickyard. In the current standings, Lundgaard and Siegel hold third and twentieth positions respectively, while Rosenqvist and Dixon sit seventh and ninth.

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has consistently spoken of the brand’s ambition to secure motorsport’s “triple crown” — victories at the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Monaco Grand Prix. These latest signings, which reinforce the team’s commitment to the Indy 500, coincide with McLaren’s participation in the top class of the Le Mans endurance event. This alignment opens up the exciting possibility of the team contending for all three legs of the triple crown within the same season.
